I've been on a bit of a mission recently to find a non-smudge, long wearing, curl-holding mascara. The first to enter the ring is the Fairy Drops Scandal Queen Waterproof mascara. As far as I'm aware, this is a brand which is pretty huge in Tokyo and after hearing a rave review from fellow blogger Anna aka ViviannaDoesMakeup I was eager to try it out. Now I know packaging isn't everything but I LOVE this packaging - rose gold, quirky print and pink writing...I'm sold. On another note, does anyone think the font used for 'Fairy' actually looks like the Fairy Liquid font? Maybe that's just me, nonetheless I'm still sold.

Onto the formula. This mascara is said to be "a push up bra for lashes" (lifting and separating to us normal folk). I once heard that the formula for most mascaras (be it waterproof or not) is pretty much the same but it's usually the wand that creates the magic. This mascara however, claims to be enriched with 5 different treatment essences to improve lash condition: squalene, jojoba oil, panthenol, hydrolised collagen and moisturising hyaluronic acid. The formula just seems like a lot of other waterproof mascaras to me - a bit of a bugger to get off. That said though I do like that the additional fibres in the formula help to lengthen lashes.  The wand is what does it for me though. It looks like it has three little balls attached and reminds me a lot of the Givenchy Noir Couture Mascara. It gives amazing volume and curl to the lashes and also works really well when layered. Anything over 3 coats can look a wee bit clumpy but some people actually prefer that so each to their own. The staying power is great and it is completely transfer resistant on my oil lids...can I get a hallelujah?!

You can buy Fairy Drops Scandal Queen Waterproof Mascara for £18.50 from This Is Beauty Mart.

Have you tried this mascara?

When it gets closer to winter I like to amp up my skin care routine. If you've watched my videos or read my blog for a wee while you'll already know that I have combination skin (slightly more on the oily side) but in the colder weather my skin gets a lot drier and tends to break out to compensate for a lack of moisture...not cool. I am such a big fan of The Body Shop and had already heard a lot about the Vitamin E range, particularly the Overnight Serum-In-Oil so after using the very last drop of my Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum (and shedding a small tear) I decided to order The Body Shop's overnight serum. I was quite surprised when I found out it was £13...beats paying £60 on some other overnight serums (ahem, Estee Lauder ANR). For £13 I was willing to take a risk and see how I got on with it. Now don't get me wrong, this is a lot different from ANR, firstly it's an oil. A lot of oily skinned gals have the misconception that using oils on oily skin is a 'No No' but it's all a myth! It's all rather technical but the jist of it is, 'Fight Oil With Oil'...let me explain. When our skin is oily it's usually because our skin's oil content isn't balanced. Our skin therefore starts producing more sebum to compensate and it's therefore more than likely that a few pesky spots will pop up due to the pores being clogged from this overproduction of sebum. How rude. Using an oil such as The Body Shop Overnight Serum In Oil helps to restore a balance.

Enough technical babble, let's move onto the product itself. The oil comes in a pretty little pink 'clay feeling' bottle with a pipette applicator - perfect for applying as you get the correct amount of product without creating a mess. The product itself is lovely. It's designed to be used overnight which made me think it was going to feel really heavy but it doesn't at all. I use about 6 drops and apply all over my face and neck then afterwords apply the The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet. The oil has a very light, slightly floral, slightly sweet scent to it but not overpowering at all. My skin immediately feels soothed and replenished and when I wake up in the morning my skin looks and feels plump without any feeling of greasiness.

Moving onto the Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet. This was a bit of an 'add on' impulse buy but I'm really glad I purchased it. The packaging is again really pretty. The sorbet itself is a gorgeous baby pink colour and is packaged in a beautiful frosted glass tub (not ideal for travelling but it looks lovely in my bathroom). The product itself creates an extremely strange cooling sensation on the skin...like you've had it in the fridge. It's bizarre! I like it though, it makes me feel really refreshed and is particularly useful in waking me up in the morning. The texture is quite strange, but again I like it. The formula is ultra light, creates a matte finish (so is perfect for oily skinned gals) but also quenches skins thirst. I don't know how they do it but they do, and I'm not complaining. I love using this both at nighttime and in the morning as it creates a perfect base for makeup. This comes in at £12 so again this is really affordable.

I'm sure you can already tell but I love both of these products. I can't say they'll take the place of my beloved Estee Lauder ANR or my other favourite moisturisers but for the meantime I'm really loving using these products and my skin is clearly loving them too.

You can purchase The Body Shop Serum-In-Oil here for £13 and The Body Shop Aqua Boost Sorbet here for £12.

Have you tried anything from The Body Shop Vitamin E range?

After sharing many a gushing moment on my Youtube channel about the latest offering from Charlotte Tilbury I thought it was about time I put fingers to keyboard to let you know my thoughts on the latest lippies to have the beauty world all a flutter. Welcome the Matte Revolution Lipstick.

Charlotte's latest launch is said to be the matte lipstick of the future as it gives a modern matte look with the illusion of fuller, wider, lit from within lips...things we wouldn't normally associate with a matte lipstick. The formula is also extremely creamy, enriched with Orchid and Lipstick Tree Extract (I actually didn't think this was a real thing, but IT IS!) used exclusively by Charlotte to create a non drying, soothing, soft and very buildable finish. The bullet itself is squared off at the top which makes it very easy to apply to the contours of the lips and feels like velvet...no dragging in the slightest. I also feel like these lipsticks are very comfortable to wear and last a good 4 hours before fading. Although I must admit they fade beautifully and leave almost a 'stain' on the lips, nothing patchy and very wearable without getting any funny looks. I can totally see what they mean when they say they give a "3D glowing effect" too and this is coming from a girl with very small lips.

There are 10 shades available which all correspond to one of Charlotte's 'iconic' looks. I picked up 2 of the shades in the colours Sexy Sienna: a warm coral inspired by Sienna Miller (see me wearing in this video); and Amazing Grace: a vintage tea rose inspired by Grace Kelly and a favourite of Millie Mackintosh. I cant wait to pick up more of these lipsticks, they aren't cheap but the formula is beautiful and just look at the rose gold vintage inspired packaging...need I say more?

You can buy the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks for £23 on counters or online at Charlotte Tilbury or Selfridges.

It's been a wee while since I last uploaded a beauty haul but I've been on a bit of a mission to revamp my beauty stash in time for Winter...let's get this straight, we all know that I didn't need a revamp but I really wanted to (sorry not sorry). I've somehow managed to gather quite the collection over the past couple of months so it's probably a good idea that I filmed this haul when I did so that I can slap myself on the wrist and put myself on a beauty spending ban...for a wee while at least.

Everything mentioned is listed in the information box just below the video on youtube, so make sure you check that out (if you're interested) and to watch the video, just click here

Make sure you grab a cuppa and a good biscuit ;)
